Individuals who would like to participate in this event submit a
recipe they would like help with; then, I will help make healthier
choices with simple substitutions.
Have friends that want to change their
recipes as well? Have a Recipe Revamp Party!
Determine what types of
recipes you want submitted (i.e. appetizer, main dish, dessert,
salad, etc). Ask each friend to send/email a recipe, I will
revamp them and make one dish. Everyone leaves from a great
time out with friends, having tried a new dish, and with new recipes
to try at home.
If
you are having the recipe revamp party presented
in your home, please specify on the registration form.
Description: I can help
you recognize unhealthy items you may have in your pantry. I can
help by offering healthier
options to buy once the unhealthy item has been used up.
If time allows, I can help you write a grocery list with some
healthy options on it so when you go grocery shopping you know what
to buy. Brands are important as most brands tend to be fairly
consistent. However there is always the exception, so I will help
you read the labels even if you think it is a healthy
choice (i.e. breads and other bakery items).
The
pantry makeover is offered in your home, please make any needed
comments on the registration form.
Description: I ask that
you make a shopping list for things you need to buy. This can be an extension to the Pantry Makeover described above, as foods
will already be categorized into red, yellow and green light foods.
Remember, to eat before we go, shopping hungry increases impulse
buying.
I will help you review the 3 No's, I want you to recognize on the
labels we will be reading together.
I
will meet you at the grocery store you are most likely to shop at,
as you are already familiar with the brands available, as well as
the layout of the store. We will use the "shop the perimeter"
method, as well as use the Traffic Light Eating as a guide.
Description: We will prepare
a recipe together as I demonstrate how to alter the recipe right in
your kitchen. You (or I can) select a specific recipe and I
will show you several substitutions to make recipes healthier.
Then you can try your delicious new and improved recipe.
