Healthy Snacks

 

Peanut Butter Protein Balls

1/2 cup Honey (or less to taste)
2/3 cup natural Peanut Butter (nonhydrogenated)
1 1/2 scoops Chocolate Flavored Juice Plus+ Complete
3 1/2 cups  crispy brown rice cereal (I use EnviroKidz Koala Crisp)

Mix the honey, peanut butter, and Juice Plus powder together completely (this is easier if the honey and peanut butter are room temperature).  Slowly add the rice cereal and carefully stir until mixed.  Use a cookie baller or your hands to roll the mixture into balls of desired size  Refrigerate the balls for about 30 minutes to firm them up.
These are yellow light so make sure you set a limit.  Remember too much of a good thing is still too much.;)
(I really only say this because I have had more than one tummy ache from too many of these.;) They are SO good!)

Trail Mix

 Caution: Nuts and seeds pose a choking hazard to children under three or four years of age.

1/2 Cup Sesame Sticks (bulk section health food store I use the unsalted)
1/2 Cup Walnuts
1/2 Cup Almonds
1/4 Cup Sunflower Seeds
1/3 Cup Raisins
1/3 Cup Pumpkin Seeds or papitos

Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl.  Encourage your child to scoop each of these ingredients out of the package and toss them together in the bowl.

This is my families favorite mix.  You could also try 1/3 cup dried cranberries or cherries 1/3 cup pistachio nut meats, 1/3 cup pecans, or other nuts your child prefers, soy nuts, unsweetened carob chips, a few semisweet chocolate chips.  (As a mom I know that if you put in a sweet they will pick out that and eat it only so try to keep it healthful.)
